Intermediate - class 4 (20/05/24)

This week we started by revising the past tense - El pretérito - on pages 12 and 13. 

La historia

Anoche Pepe se despertó y oyó un ruido - Last night Pepe woke up and heard a noise

Encendió la luz - He turned on the light

Se levantó de la cama - He got up

Se puso la bata - He put on the robe

Abrió la puerta del dormitorio - He opened his bedroom door

Bajó por las escaleras - He went downstairs

Escuchó en la puerta - He listened through the door

Abrió la puerta - He opened the door

Vio un gato fuera - He saw a cat outside

Subió por las escaleras - He went upstairs

Se quitó la bata - He took off his robe

Se acostó - He went to bed

Apagó la luz - He turned off the light

Se durmió - He fell asleep

El sábado pasado de Paco 

Paco se levantó a las diez y veinte - Paco got up at 10:20

Pasó la aspiradora a las doce y cuarto- He hoovered at 12:15

Quedó con sus amigos a las dos menos cuarto - He met with his friends at 13:45

Hizo las compras a las cinco menos diez - He did some shopping at 16:50

Cenó con su familia a las nueve menos veinte - He had dinner with his family at 20:40

Fue a la discoteca y bailó a las diez y media - He went to the disco and danced at 22:30

In the second part of the class we discussed the pros and cons of different types of holidays on page 14. Sample answers: 

1.La playa es relajante, pero puede ser aburrida 

The beach is relaxing but it can be boring.

2.En el pueblo o campo puedes ir andando a cualquier lado, pero a veces es muy tranquilo.

In the town or the country you can walk everywhere but it is sometimes very quiet.

3. Ir a una pensión es muy barato pero las pensiones no suelen estar muy limpias y las camas no son cómodas.

Going to a cheap hotel / hostel is very cheap but they usually aren't very clean and the beds are not comfortable.

4. Una caravana es pequeña y no es cómoda, pero puedes viajar con ella a todos lados.

A caravan is small and not comfortable, but you can travel everywhere on it.

5. Ir de acampada en tienda de campaña es peor que una caravana, no tienes baño, la tienda de campaña puede ser muy calurosa y te puedes mojar si llueve. No hay ventajas.

Going camping in a tent is worse than going on a caravan. There is no bathroom, the tent can be very hot and you can get wet if it rains. There are no advantages.

In the last part of the class we briefly revised the verbs in future tense on page 15: 

visitaré - I will visit

me quedaré - I will stay

podrán - they will be able to 

iré - I will go

volveré - I will return
