We revised the pretérito perfecto

¿Has comido caracoles?

¿Has comido pulpo?

¿Has bebido Guinness?

 

We need two parts…

1. Haber – he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han

2. And the past participle – -ado or -ido

Comido, trabajado, bebido, viajado, estado……

Be careful not to use the gerund (-ando or -iendo)

 

We also use it a lot with “una vez”, “muchas veces”, “dos veces”

¿Has bebido Guinness alguna vez?

Sí, he bebido Guinness muchas veces.

 

We read about Mariluz…..

Me llamo Mariluz.

Tengo 32 años y vivo en un pueblo pequeño en Aragón. No he tenido una vida muy emocionada hasta ahora.

Fui a Mallorca hace unos años, y también a Tenerife el año pasado, pero nunca he salido de España.

Nunca he probado la comida india. No me gusta la comida picante.

Nunca he hablado una lengua extranjera. Aprendí un poco de inglés en el instituto pero me daba vergüenza hablarlo.

Sólo he estado en Madrid una vez. Fui ahí hace unos años, pero no me gustaban el ruido y el bullicio. ¡Hay demasiada gente!

Me gusta nadar pero sólo en la piscina. Nunca he nadado en el mar; tengo miedo de que las medusas me piquen.    

¡Estoy pensando que necesito cambiar mi vida y hacer cosas nuevas!

Some vocabulary….

Me da vergüenza – it embarrasses me

Tengo vergüenza – I am embarrassed

Una medusa – a jellyfish

Picar – to bite/sting

el bullicio – fuss/ noise / chaos

 This week we continued with the present simple. We worked on the pages 12 and 14.

In the second part of the class, we compared our habits in Spain and Ireland when it comes to Halloween and Christmas. Some examples below:

En España las personas celebran el Día de Todos los Santos – In Spain people celebrate the Day of All the Saints.

Los españoles comen un dulce que se llama huesos de santo – Spanish people eat a pastry called Saint’s bones.

Los huesos de santo tienen huevo y harina – Saint’s bones have egg and flour.

Los españoles van al cementerio y llevan flores – Spanish people go to the graveyard and carry flowers.

Los irlandeses ven películas de terror – Irish people watch horror movies.

Los niños irlandeses hacen ‘truco o trato’. – Irish children do ‘trick or treat’.

Los irlandeses decoran calabazas – Irish people decorate pumpkins.

 

En Navidad, los irlandeses comen pavo y patatas – At Christmas, Irish people eat turkey and potatoes.

Los irlandeses reciben regalos de Papá Noel – Irish people get presents from Santa.

Some expressions that came up

Te acompaño en los sentimientos – I am sorry for your loss (when someone dies)

Desayunar – to have breakfast

Almorzar / comer – to have lunch

Cenar – to have dinner

Están cenando – they are having dinner

 

WE began looking at the Pretérito perfecto

We use this for talking about what we have done in our lives, without mentioning exactly when.

He viajado mucho – I have travelled a lot

¿Has comido pulpo? – have you eaten octopus?

¿Has comido caballo? - …..horse

¿Has comido caracoles? – have you eaten snails?

 

There are two parts to this verb form…..

haber	Participio pasado …….-ado / -ido
he has ha hemos habéis han	trabajado hablado volado viajado comido bebido vivido

 

We also have some irregular verbs….

We began by revising some vocab about volcanoes and we also watched a video

Un dique – a dam, dyke

La propia lava enfriada actúa como dique de contención de la nueva colada – the cooled lava acts as a dam to contain the new lava

El aeropuerto sigue operativo pero las aerolíneas están cancelando vuelos

We then went on to some expressions with “me pone”

Me pongo nervioso/a con el tráfico

or

El tráfico me pone nervioso/a

Me caen bien mis amigos – I like my friends.

Me cae mal mi vecino porque no recorta sus setos – he doesn’t trim his hedges

 

We went on to look at el Preterito perfecto

We then looked at the Preterito Perfecto for talking about life experience

 This week we looked at basic verbs and we conjugated them in first, second and third person singular on pages 8 and 9:

Nadar – to swim – Nado, nadas, nada

Cocinar – to cook – cocino, cocinas, cocina

Comer – to eat – como, comes, come

Pasear – to go for a walk – paseo, paseas, pasea

Jugar – to play – Juego, juegas, juega

In the second part of the class, in pairs we worked on some questions to talk about routine:

¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre? - What do you do in your free time

¿Qué haces todas las mañanas? – What do you do in the mornings?

¿Qué haces en vacaciones? – what do you do on holidays?

En mi tiempo libre me gusta pasear por la playa con mi perro, leo un libro y escribo en mi diario. – In my free time I like to walk on the beach with my dog, I read a book and I write in my journal.

Por las mañanas desayuno tostadas y un café y voy al trabajo. Antes de ir a trabajar, hago mi cama y limpio mi casa – In the mornings I have toast and coffee for breakfast and I go to work. Before going to work, I make my bed and I clean my house.

En vacaciones voy a la montaña, nado en la piscina y escucho música – On holidays, I go to the mountain, I swim in the pool and I listen to music.
