This week we continued with the topic of the house on pages 18 and 19.
We started by reading the text on Martín on page 18:
Mi casa tiene dos plantas - my house has two floors
En la planta baja hay una cocina, un salón y un baño - On the ground floor there is a
kitchen, a living room and a bathroom.
En la primera planta hay dos dormitorios y un baño - On the first floor there are two
bedrooms and a bathroom.
Hay un jardín en la parte de delante - There is a garden at the front part of the house
Sólo hay hierba en el jardín - There is only grass / lawn in the garden
Cuando sea rico - When I become rich
Me voy a comprar una casa nueva - I am going to buy a new house
Mi casa idea tiene tres plantas, diez dormitorios y cuatro baños - My ideal house has three
floors, ten bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Tiene una sala de juegos donde puedo jugar a los videojuegos - It has a game room where I
can play video games.
Hay una piscina en la planta superior - There is a swimming pool on the top part.
Hay un jardín grande con árboles y flores - There is a big garden with trees and flowers
También hay un jardín en la parte de atrás - There is also a garden at the back of the house
Y un pequeño cine en la planta baja - And a small cinema on the ground floor
Next we did the listening activity on page 18:
Mi piso - My flat/apartment
Vivo en un piso moderno en las afueras de Palma de Mallorca - I live in a modern flat in the
suburbs of Palma de Mallorca
Es una zona bastante tranquila - It is a very quiet area
Vivimos en la quinta planta - We live on the fifth floor
Desde ahí hay una vista muy bonita del mar - From there there is a very nice view of the sea
Somos cuatro en la familia, mis padres, mi hermano y yo - We are four in my family, my
parents, my brother and me.
El piso tiene tres dormitorios, una cocina, un cuarto de baño y un salón - The flat has three
bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room.
También hay una terraza - There is also a terrace/patio
Cuando hace buen tiempo mi madre pone ahí sus plantas y el canario - When the weather
is nice, my mother puts her plants and the canary bird there.
Tengo un dormitorio propio - I have my own bedroom
Ahí tengo mi cama, un armario, una silla y una mesa donde tengo mi ordenador - There I
have my bed, a wardrobe, a chair and a table/desk where I have my computer.
En las paredes hay fotos de mis amigos - On the walls there are photos of my friends
un calendario y un espejo - A calendar and a mirror.
También hay una estantería donde pongo mis libros y mis DVDs - There is also a shelf
where I put my books and my DVDs.
Las paredes y las cortinas son de color rosa - The walls and the curtains are pink
Mi dormitorio es muy pequeño pero me gusta mucho - My bedroom is very small but I like it
a lot. It is my favourite place.

In the last part of the class we talked about our houses in pairs. Sample questions and
answers:
1.¿Hay un cuadro en tu salón? - Is there a picture in your living room?
Sí, hay dos cuadros en mi salón - Yes, there are two pictures in my living room.
2.¿Hay un espejo en tu salón? - Is there a mirror in your living room?
No, pero hay un espejo pequeño en mi dormitorio y un espejo grande en mi cuarto de baño -
No, but there is a small mirror in my bedroom and a big mirror in my bathroom
3.¿Hay una lámpara en tu salón? - Is there a lamp in your living room?
Sí, hay tres lámparas en mi salón - Yes, there are three lamps in my living room.
4.¿Hay una estantería en tu salón? - Is there a shelf in your living room?
Sí, hay una estantería pequeña en mi salón pero hay una estantería grande en mi oficina y
tengo muchos libros - Yes, there is a small shelf in my living room but there is a big shelf in
my office and I have a lot of books.
