This week we revised the vocabulary on body parts and we learnt how to express illnesses:
Las enfermedades – the illnesses
Me duele la cabeza – I have a headache
Me duele la muela – I have a sore tooth
Tengo la pierna rota – I broke my leg
Tengo tos – I’m coughing
Tengo un resfriado / tengo un constipado–
I have a cold
Tengo la gripe – I have the flu
Tengo fiebre – I have high temperature
Me duele la muela del juicio - I have a pain
in my wisdom tooth
Tengo alergia - I have an allergy
Tengo intolerancia - I have an intolerance
We read a dialogue and we translated the
new words:
-Hola Marco, ¿qué te pasa? – Hey Marco,
what 's wrong? (informal way)
-Hola Doctor, no me encuentro bien. Tengo
fiebre y me duele todo el cuerpo – Hello doctor, I don’t feel very well. I have
high temperature and my whole body aches.
-Bueno, vamos a ver. Me parece que tienes
la gripe. Te daré una receta para unos antibióticos- ok let me see. It seems
that you have the flu. I will give you a prescription for some antibiotics.
We also practiced different dialogues and
we commented on them.
¿Qué te pasa? – What’s wrong?
Estoy mal. Tengo la gripe. – I feel bad.
I have the flu.
Deberías descansar. ¿Tienes fiebre? – You
should have a rest. Do you have high temperature?
Sí, tengo fiebre – Yes I do.
Deberías beber mucha agua – You should
drink plenty of water
Vale – ok
Y si no mejoras, deberías ir al médico –
and if you don’t get better, you should go to the doctor.
¿Al médico? No me gusta ir al médico. –
To the doctor? I don’t like going to the doctor.
¿Te duele la cabeza? – Do you have a
headache?
Sí, mucho – Yes, a lot.
¿Por qué no te tomas una aspirina? Aquí
tienes – Why don’t you take a painkiller? Here you have.
We talked about advice – Consejo.
Tienes que + verb in infinitive You have
to
Tienes que descansar – You have to rest
Tienes que comer – You have to eat
Deberías + verb in infinitive You should
Deberías descansar – you should rest
¿Por qué no + verb in present? – Why
don’t you …?
¿por qué no descansas? –Why don't you
take a rest?
¿Por qué no comes? – Why don’t you eat?
And to wrap up, we did the activity ¿Qué le pasa?
1.Me duele la cabeza - I have a headache
¿Por qué no tomas una aspirina ahora mismo? -
Why don’t you take an aspirin right now?
2.¿Tengo fiebre. Me encuentro mal. - I have
fever. I feel sick.
Tienes que ir a la cama inmediatamente - You
have to go to bed immediately.
3.Me duele la muela - I have a tootache
Debes ir al dentista pronto - You have to go
to the dentist soon
4.Tengo dolor de estómago y no puedo comer - I
have a stomach ache and I can’t eat
Hay que ir al médico enseguida - We have to go
to the doctor straight away.
