Week 7
This week
we looked at the map of Spain and we revised how to ask for places.
Spain is
divided into 17 different regions (comunidades autonómas) and 2 independent
cities that belong to the country (ciudades autónomas) called Ceuta and
Melilla.
There are
52 different provinces (provincias) that constitute the country.
In groups,
we guessed where the following places are.
¿Dónde está…? – Where is…?
… Tenerife? – Tenerife está en las Islas
Canarias – It’s in the Canary Islands.
…Barcelona? – Barcelona está en Cataluña
…Santiago de Compostela? – Está en Galicia.
…Mallorca? – Está en las Islas Baleares
…Bilbao? – Está en el País Vasco.
…Málaga? – Está en Andalucía
…Fuerteventura? – Está en las Islas Canarias
…Toledo? – Está en Castilla – La Mancha
We learnt
how to ask where we have been. It is formed with the verb HABER (in the person
we are talking about) and a participle, which is formed by changing the end of
the verb in infinitive by a participle ending.
Haber: he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han
Verbs which end by –ar à -ado Trabajar – trabajado;
jugar-jugado; visitar-visitado
Verbs which end by –er / -ir à -ido Beber-bebido; dormir-dormido
Yo he
visitado – I have visited
Tú has
comido – You have eaten
Él ha
bailado – he has danced
Nosotros
hemos leído – we have read
Vosotros
habéis dejado – You have left
Ellos han
corrido – they have run
In pairs,
we practiced the following questions with our own experiences.
¿Has estado
en …? – Have you ever been to…?
¿has estado en Barcelona? – No, nunca he
estado en Barcelona – No, I’ve never been to Barcelona
¿Has estado en Sevilla? – Sí, he estado allí
muchas veces – Yes, I’ve been there many times.
¿Has estado en Mallorca? – Sí, estuve allí el
año pasado – Yes, I was there last year.
In the last
part of the class, we practiced the following questions:
¿Qué
idiomas has estudiado? – What languages have you learnt?
¿has comido paella? – Have you eaten paella?
¿Has bailado flamenco?
– Have you danced flamenco?
¿Has
viajado a España? – Have you travelled to Spain?
