BEGINNERS 2 COURSE, SPRING 2023, CLASS 7

 This week we revised the topic of body parts and illnesses:

 

Tengo náuseas. Me duelen el estómago y la cabeza - I have nausea. My stomach and my head hurt.

¿Tienes síntomas? - Do you have any symptoms?

Tengo tos y estornudo mucho - I have cough and I sneeze a lot.

Tienes la gripe. ¿Eres alérgica a algo? - You have the flu. Are you allergic to anything?

No, no soy alérgica a nada - I am not allergic to anything.

Voy a recetar antibióticos - I am going to prescribe some antibiotics.

Tienes que tomar dos pastillas cada ocho horas durante cinco días - You have to take two tablets every eight hours for five days.

 

We learnt some products found at the pharmacy:

En la farmacia - At the pharmacy

 

el protector solar - the suncream

las tiritas - the plasters

la venda - the bandage

la pomada - the ointment

el inhalador - the inhaler

el jarabe para la tos - cough syrup

las gotas para los ojos - the eye drops

el champú - shampoo

el cepillo para el pelo - the hairbrush

el repelente para mosquitos - the mosquito repellent

las pastillas - the tablets

el cepillo de dientes - the toothbrush

el gel desinfectante - the hand sanitiser

la pasta de dientes - toothpaste

el acondicionador - conditioner

 

 

In the second part of the class, we worked on a role play in pairs. A sample dialogue:

En el médico - At the doctor’s

 

-Hola, buenos días. ¿Qué le pasa? - Hello, good morning. What is wrong?

-Hola. No me encuentro bien. Me duele mucho la cabeza y no tengo apetito - Hello, I don’t feel well. I have a big headache and I have no appetite.

-Vamos a ver. Creo que estás constipado - Let’s see. I think you have a cold.

-¿Qué puedo tomar? - What can I take?

-Voy a recetar unas pastillas. También deberías descansar y tomar muchas bebidas calientes - I am going to prescribe some tablets. You should also rest and have lots of hot drinks.

-De acuerdo. Una pregunta, ¿dónde está la farmacia? - Ok. One question, where is the pharmacy?

-La farmacia está al final de la calle, a mano izquierda, entre el supermercado y el banco. - The pharmacy is at the end of the street, on the left hand side, between the supermarket and the bank.
